According to the conventional thinking, the choice of compressor type is not much difficult , small unit with scroll compressor, medium unit with screw compressor, large unit with centrifugal compressor.
Let's do a simulation selection. Suppose we need a 300KW water-cooled chiller
Screw Type,40STD-280WS4,Cooling Capacity:284kW,Price is 15200USD
Scroll Type,20STB-100WFO4,Cooling Capacity:300kW,Price is 13500USD
From the data, the cooling capacity of the scroll type chiller is 6% larger than the screw type chiller, and the price of the scroll type chiller is 13% lower than the screw type chiller.
It is also applied to Air cooled chiller.The following introduces the scroll type chiller and screw type chiller cooling overlap area.
The minimum cooling capacity for a single screw chiller is 90KW.
It can be seen from here that the cooling capacity range of one chiller is 90KW ~ 300KW, which is the overlap area of scroll type and screw type.
In the future, when the cooling capacity of one chiller is between 90KW and 300KW, it can choose a flexible scheme between the scroll and the screw, which will have a more competitive advantage in the market.
